What we will do
  • This tour begins in Stavanger. The heart of the Norwegian oil industry, it is the country's fourth largest city in terms of population and is located at the entrance to the Gandsfjord, sheltered from the North Sea. Over the decades, the city has expanded to include various islands, linked to the centre by a series of bridges. In Stavanger, industrial areas and charming residential suburbs lie side by side.
  • We then set sail for the Lysefjord, which stretches for 50 kilometres inland. During the passage which provides stunning views of the steep mountains we will also be able to admire the many inhabited islands. From time to time, we may even be able to glimpse small farms dotted across the surrounding landscape.
  • Continuing up to the north of the fjord, we will reach the Preikestolen (the 'pulpit' rock ), a flat rock that overlooks the Lysefjord from a height of 604 metres above sea level. Our boat will slow down as we pass beneath it so we can marvel at this beautiful rock formation in close-up.
  • As we leave the fjord, we will sail along the coast and into a narrow bay that leads to a cave, where thieves used to hide their loot.
